Bruce Handler is a Senior Counsel at BurgherGray LLP, focusing on complex commercial litigation and corporate investigations. His practice encompasses securities, real estate, pharmaceuticals, employment, intellectual property, and general commercial litigation. With over 35 years of experience, he has established himself as a skilled litigator and negotiator.
Bruce has successfully represented clients in complex federal securities and RICO actions, governmental investigations, commercial lease disputes, and copyright matters. He has successfully represented a broad range of clients in disputes involving commercial leases, advertising, sales of businesses and non-competition agreements. He also has successfully defended attorneys and other professionals against RICO, malpractice and other civil claims arising from losses suffered by limited partnerships and other investment vehicles. He has successfully argued before the New York Appellate Division for the expansion of the remedies available to public customers in securities arbitrations. He has also successfully defended several employers against employee claims under federal and state discrimination laws, whistleblower laws and the Family and Medical Leave Act.
Before joining BurgherGray, he was a partner at Schaeffer Venaglia Handler & Fitzsimmons, LLP (SVHF) and Dornbush Schaeffer Strongin & Venaglia, LLP, served as Principal Attorney at Jones Hirsch Connors & Bull PC, and began his career as an associate at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP.
Bruce earned his J.D. from New York University School of Law, where he was Developments Editor of the Annual Survey of American Law and won the Seymour A. Levy Memorial Award. He completed his undergraduate studies at Rutgers College, graduating with Highest Honors and as a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He is admitted to practice in New York State courts, the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, and the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. Bruce is a member of the New York City Bar Association.
